ITV Emmerdale star sacked just months after debut as fans left fuming

One Emmerdale resident found themselves sacked - with bosses left fuming by the decision.

Emmerdale: Mackenzie Boyd collapses

An Emmerdale star has been sacked - and fans are not too happy.

Soap newbie John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) made his bombshell arrival this year, as the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby).

He wasted no time in ruffling feathers, getting hot and heavy with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). However, neither of them knew he was the brother of his ex-husband Robert (Ryan Hawley).

Since then, he has settled well into the village. As well as clashing with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), John has also got to know his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins).

What’s more, John even got a job at Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J. Robb) farm. However, following the bull attack that caused Mackenzie to get rushed to the hospital, things took an awkward turn in the workplace.

Viewers will recall Mack attempted to escape by vaulting over a locked gate and landing on his head, knocking himself out cold. Although he woke up, he later collapsed at home and and was rushed to hospital.

Mack was adamant that John was behind the ordeal, due to their rivalry. However, John insisted it wasn’t him - and during Friday’s episode (August 30) the truth was revealed.

Moira ended up remembering that she might have caused the incident after leaving a gate open.

However, later on, Moira let John go from working at the farm, due to the tension between him and her brother.

And it’s fair to say fans were fuming at Moira’s decision. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “She’s seriously sacking John?! Mack has a job…at the garage.”

Someone else added: “Moira, keep John, ditch Mack.” A third penned: “Moira sacking John - I don't think Cain will be happy.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
