Death in Paradise star Josephine Jobert has admitted she would be up for appearing in the series spin-off, Beyond Paradise starring Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton.

Josephine has worked alongside Kris in Death in Paradise before where they played the roles of Florence Cassell and Humphrey Goodman. However, Humphrey was replaced by Ardal O'Hanlon as the lead detective when he decided to follow his love, Martha (Sally Bretton) back to London.

Years later, the couple's love story continued in a Death in Paradise spin-off called Beyond Paradise, set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott.

During series one, the Death in Paradise cast did make an appearance in the spin-off when Humphrey went back to Saint Marie for a holiday, which is when he was reunited with his former colleagues and met Neville Parker (Ralf Little) for the first time.

And while Josephine has confirmed she has no plans to return to the Death in Paradise franchise permanently, she would be open to appearing as a guest star.

In a recent Q&A on Instagram, Josephine was asked by one fan: "Would you do a guest spot on Beyond Paradise the spin-off?"

The actress simply replied: "Yes, why not?"

Despite confirming she would be up for a guest role, in a previous Q&A, the actress said she has no plans to reprise her role as Florence.

She told her Instagram followers: "I think I can safely say no. I've already left and come back many times and I've definitely done my time on the show.

"I've finally been able to say goodbye to Florence, and while I am very grateful to have been part of this project that has brought so many lovely things in my life, I am also happy to be able to move on and take part in new projects."

She added: "But I completely understand why the question is asked. In fact, I am very touched that the public wants to continue following Florence."

Josephine's character left Death in Paradise earlier this year after she and her love Neville sailed off into the sunset together.

Soon after, BBC bosses confirmed Don Gilet would be replacing Ralf as the lead detective on the show.

Speaking about taking on the iconic role, the former EastEnders star said: “Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands.

"This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated.

"Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time!”

Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
