Martin Roberts has signed up for a new reality show opposite his Homes Under the Hammer co-star Jacqui Joseph.

BBC fans are used to seeing Martin, 60, and Jacqui front the beloved renovation series, but will now watch the duo on a different kind of BBC programme.

They will be appearing on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip together, travelling across the UK in search for some old treasures. The presenters will receive £200 and, with the support of antiques experts, hunt for the best items within their budget.

Martin and Jacqui, who are close friends off screen, will go head-to-head at the final auction where one of them will be crowned the winner. An insider told The Sun: "Martin and Jacqui can't wait to take part in Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

"They work really well together on Homes Under the Hammer and are really excited to go head-to-head in the auction room. It's a great move for Martin especially, as he is really enjoying the chance to spread his wings and try out different shows after his health scare."

Two years ago, Martin underwent life-saving surgery after suffering from a build up of fluid in the structure of the heart. Martin had previously said that he had been suffering from chest pains for a number of weeks but had put off going to the doctor as he thought it was long COVID.

Appearing on This Morning, the TV presenter recalled how close he came to death, saying: "By the time they got to me, my kidneys were at 30%, my liver was at 30%, my lungs weren't getting the oxygen and at any point, I could have had a heart attack…

"The heart would have been strangled by itself. We're talking minutes stroke hours of life left here." The dad-of-two admitted he didn't completely follow doctors orders after his health scare.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Martin said: "I was told to take it easy. De-stress my life, take on less, take more time watching the flowers - that went out the window.

"I guess I'm breaking quite a lot of the rules. Unfortunately, my desire to achieve good things overwhelms my consultant's advice."

Since recovering, the I'm A Celebrity star has been keeping himself busy as he has spent the past year renovating his pub in the Rhonda Valley in Wales.
