ITV Good Morning Britain's Ed Balls sparks 'bias' fury as fans spot same issue

Ed Balls was met with criticism from ITV viewers after interviewing Labour's Wes Streeting on Good Morning Britain.

GMB: Ed Balls discusses Rishi Sunak's backlash

Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls was accused of being “compromised” as he discussed Rishi Sunak’s anti-semitism row with Labour’s Ed Streeting.

During Tuesday’s episode, he and his co-host Susanna Reid were joined by the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care after Sunak’s comments about Keir Starmer.

In a recent interview, the Labour leader said he wanted to make time to spend with his children after 6 pm on Friday nights.

The Conservatives then claimed this would make him a “part-time prime minister” if he wins the election on Thursday, with Rishi Sunak telling reporters: “I haven’t finished at six ever.”

Fans took to social media to rage at Ed leading the interview, as one said: "This is disgraceful GMB, surely you can find a co presenter who’s not compromised & politically neutral 2 days before a general election."

Another added: "The former Labour govt minister & husband of Labours current shadow Home Secretary isn't being an interviewer here."

A third chipped in: "You’re right, he’s literally doing an on air puff piece, accompanied by the nodding dog tribute act otherwise known as Wes Streeting."

Regarding an earlier interview with SNP's Stephen Flynn, one viewer said: "Is it really fair Ed Balls is questioning Stephen Flynn on behalf of his wife and the Labour Party?"

Speaking to Streeting, Ed continued: “That is something that Conservative campaign advisors and Rishi Sunak would’ve been aware of and they chose to make this attack.

“So when Lord John Mann says ‘there should be an anti-Semetism awareness course for Rishi Sunak’ and when Jewish news says they’re offended, aren’t they right to be offended?

“What has gone wrong here, it’s not just about lies and playing politics, isn’t it something more serious?”

Starmer previously told Virgin Radio: "We’ve had a strategy in place and we’ll try to keep to it, which is to carve out really protected time for the kids, so on a Friday – I’ve been doing this for years.

"I will not do a work-related thing after six o’clock, pretty well come what may. There are a few exceptions, but that’s what we do."
