The soap schedule has been keeping fans on their toes over the last couple of weeks as ITV and BBC make way for coverage of The UEFA European Football Championship 2024. And it's likely the schedule is set to get even more chaotic as broadcasters facilitate coverage of Wimbledon now that the tennis tournament has kicked off.

Bosses over at ITV have been ensuring that Emmerdale and Coronation Street viewers are kept up to date with schedule changes by releasing new weekly timetables on their official social media pages. The soaps often make joint announcements outlining the changes.

More often than not episodes are pushed back to a slightly later time, or if they are removed from the schedules then fans can usually look forward to a double bill of their favoured soap later in the week. However, during the first week in July, fans have been left less than impressed as Emmerdale has been cancelled entirely on Tuesday, July 2, while Coronation Street has been pushed back as late at 9pm in some cases throughout the week

Posting a joint statement on both Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, Emmerdale and Coronation Street wrote: "Heads-up, here's where to find your Soaps fix this week." A timetable then outlined that there would be no Emmerdale on Tuesday as ITV prioritisises Romania vs Netherlands coverage followed by Austria vs Turkiye.

Many fans took the comment section to share their thoughts, with some questioning why the soaps had to be impacted at all, while others said a 9pm start for Coronation Street was too late.

Responding, @gffcontwitch suggested: "There are other channels they could put football on!!," while @GenkinsRoger commented: "What. No Emmerdale on Tuesday. F**K."

As the_wild_huskies_ said: "This is 2024. In this day and age there should be enough channels for both soaps and football."

Suggesting an earlier time slot for Corrie, @AscotAnna asked: "Why can't it go on before Bradley and Barney??" While @megster1986 pointed out: "I'll be in bed for 9."

And @RossGKiernan_ added: "It clashes with Love Island," as frosty1977 echoed: "It clashes with Love Island so I guess I'll have to watch on catch-up."
