Bridgerton fans have been left unimpressed after finding out when the next series will drop on Netflix. Show bosses revealed that viewers will have to wait a long two years for the next installment.

Following the release of the third season of the popular Netlix show, fans are already looking forward to when we can expect a fourth series. However, according to one Netlix executive we will all be in for a rather long wait.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jess Brownell said: "We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language.

"And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we're kind of on a two-year pace, we're trying to speed up but somewhere in that range."

Fans have been left devastated and shocked by the news. One person complained on X, formally known as Twitter: "We ain't got such patience. Two years is too long."

A second person also chimed in: " Why does it take this show so long between seasons? Bigger shows turn s*** around in a year! Get it together Netflix!"

A third fan also commented: "Sorry but personal opinion here: 2 years to make 8 episodes is WILD. SUE ME." A fourth typed: "You got shows with more work pumping out seasons yearly this is just embarrassing."

Viewers have been binging the third season of Bridgerton which was released in two parts, with the second installment being released on June 13.

This season follows the love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. Each series follows the romantic endeavours of one Bridgerton sibling - with Daphne, Anthony and Colin having been covered so far.

Fans are already tipping which sibling will be focused on on season four, as Elouise, Benedict or Francesa could all be in the running. Brownell also admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that viewers of one of the "ships" are going to be "very very happy."

Bridgerton can be streamed now on Netflix.
