TV presenter Richard Madeley might be bidding farewell to Good Morning Britain. The 68-year-old made his first appearance on the popular ITV show in 2017 and quickly became a part of the GMB family.

However, his interviewing style has often caused controversy. Just last month, his interview with George Galloway sparked outrage and resulted in numerous Ofcom complaints.

In October of the previous year, Richard's remarks towards British Palestinian MP Layla Moran led to 2378 complaints, making it the second most complained about episode of 2023. Consequently, viewers have frequently urged GMB bosses to dismiss Richard, a sentiment even co-host Susanna has had to address in his defence.

Now, bookmakers predict that some viewers may get their wish. According to exclusive odds provided by BonusCodeBets, Richard is at 10/1 odds to leave the show in 2025.

The odds for 2026 are 4/1, followed by 2027 at 6/1. Furthermore, a PR expert exclusively told Daily Star that several presenters would be "delighted to take over his role," if Richard were to depart from GMB, reports the Daily Star.

Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo, remarked: "A few of his recent interviews have resulted in several complaints from viewers with some even calling for him to be axed. Richard has not been strange to critiques throughout his career, however, Richard has previously said he 'would not do it if it wasn't fun'."

The marketing guru then highlighted Richard's venture into the literary world with his novel, Father's Day, suggesting it could signal his departure as it allows him "more time to focus on writing."

Dom commented: "If the presenter feels his stint on Good Morning Britain no longer brings him enjoyment and the comments from fans become too much, we could well see him step away from the role and use this time to focus on something else. With the release of his new book 'Father's Day', Richard would have much more time to focus on writing if he stepped away from Good Morning Britain."

He also touched on the recent shake-ups at GMB, citing Ben Shephard's departure as an instance. Dom added: "While it would disrupt the current makeup of the GMB team, as one of the most popular breakfast TV shows, several presenters would be eager to step into Richard's shoes should he opt to exit."
