ITV This Morning viewers 'switch off' after presenter shake-up divides fans
Last week, it was announced that Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were joining This Morning as the new presenters of the ITV show.
This Morning: Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley revealed as hosts
On Monday morning, This Morning fans saw Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle front the daytime programme. However, it seems as though their appearance sparked a divide among viewers and some were left confused as to why they were hosting.
Taking to Twitter, @cj_787 asked: “Erm, where's Cat & Ben?? ITV news said over the weekend that they will be starting their new job from this Monday?”. Agreeing, @Itt39354118 added: “To be honest I thought it was Ben and Cat today.” (sic)
@TimNeal50001701 reeled: “Oh FFS, Craig and Josie back on #thismorning I thought we had got rid of them - time to switch off…” Although it looked as though some were thrilled to see the pair back on-screen together.
@Itt39354118 said: “Nice to see Craig and Josie back.” With @Hotsunnydaze1 commenting: “Yeah. One of the best pairings on today!! Do wish #ThisMorning were continuing with using a pool of people and mixing and matching”
As @transchronic added: “Oh these two are just so much better #ThisMorning.” Last Friday, it was confirmed that Good Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley would be the new faces of the show.
Since former presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield left last year, viewers have seen a rotation of people front the programme including the likes of Rylan Clarke, Rochelle Humes, Emma Willis and Andi Peters.
However, after months of different hosts, Ben and Cat will present the show from Monday to Thursday, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary taking over the Friday slot.
Announcing the news on last week’s show, Alison shared nothing but excitement when welcoming Ben and Cat to the This Morning family.
She said: “We're so, so happy! The news is finally out, it's finally out!

“Cat is just the dream. I met her in LA, it was the first time.
"We're both Brummies… It was about four years ago, we met in LA… We went to a party and it was the first time these two Brummies collided, we've never separated."
ITV shared that the duo are expected to join the show as of next month.
On Good Morning Britain, presenter Susanna Reid told viewers there will be a special farewell episode for Ben on Friday.
Speaking about joining the show, Ben said: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning.
"It's an honour to be trusted with the reins, join Alison [Hammond] and Dermot [O'Leary] and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.
"For the last 10 years I've been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved."
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
