Glastonbury Festival enthusiasts were united in their grievance as Coldplay launched into their Saturday night headline act.

The evening marked a milestone for Coldplay, with frontman Chris Martin leading the band to a historic moment as they performed on the Worthy Farm Pyramid Stage for a record-breaking fifth time - a feat unmatched by any other artist at the event.

As the performance commenced, broadcasted live to viewers at home by the BBC, fans didn't hesitate to express their opinions online as the band, famous for chart-toppers like Yellow, Viva La Vida, and A Sky Full Of Stars, appeared on stage.

Kicking off with their iconic track Yellow, then segueing into the popular Higher Power, the audience's excitement was palpable. Yet, as the concert progressed, viewers took to social media to voice their reactions.

One fan commented: "I like Coldplay don't get me wrong, but five times headlining #Glastonbury is just ridiculous. No band or artist should headline that many times. #Coldplay #ColdplayGlastonbury #Glastonbury24," while another remarked: "If #Coldplay were playing in my garden I'd close the curtains #Glastonbury how can you headline 5 times! ! " Meanwhile, a third lamented: "Feel so gutted for the 100's of 1000's that paid good money for a lame headline act #Glastonbury #Boring #Snoozefest.", reports the Mirror.

Despite some criticism, many fans were ecstatic to see the band performing at Farm again. A thrilled fan declared:"#Coldplay are and always be f***ing incredible. #Glastonbury," while another social media user noted: "Coldplay - headlining #Glastonbury 5 times."

An impressed onlooker observed: "How amazing does it look at Glastonbury with all the light up wrist bands for Coldplay #Glastonbury #Coldplay," while a forth posted: "Coldplay might not be everyone's idea of a Glastonbury headliner, but they're undeniably one of the greatest live acts in the world #Glastonbury."

Frontman Chris Martin had previously shared about how the band narrowly made it to their inaugural Glastonbury set.

In the BBC Documentary, Coldplay: Our Glastonbury, he reminisced: "The hunger to go there was so huge. Our first introduction, I think, was probably carrying a not-very-good amplifier with a drunken tour manager who obviously didn't know what he was doing either.

"So we sort of had a very quick intake of the whole place, and then started where you should start, which is in the New Bands Tent, first on. I don't think I thought about the wider, how wild it was. It was just like we were here and we're late and it's huge."

Coldplay first made appearance on the Glastonbury scene back in 1999 inside the New Bands tent, and have since performed in the years 2002, 2005, 2011, 2016. In recent times, they secured the honour of headlining the iconic Pyramid Stage in its coveted Saturday night slot.

It comes after Glastonbury came under criticism for being too political. Many BBC viewers have been left angry by the huge amount of Palestine flags in the crowd.
