Death In Paradise 2019: 'It’s a matter of deduction' cast member makes SHOCKING reveal
DEATH IN PARADISE is the BBC comedy renowned for weaving intricate murder mystery stories into a beautiful Caribbean setting - but one of the cast members has now revealed he works out who the murderer is before the show's big reveal.
Death in Paradise: Jack tells JP to use Dwayne’s empty desk
Death In Paradise returned last night to bring viewers back to the idyllic setting of Saint-Marie in the Caribbean.
And while DI Jack Mooney (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) is usually the first character on-screen who figures out who the mysterious murderer is in each episode, he isn’t the first off-screen.
Star of the gruff and stoic Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Don Warrington, has revealed his detective skills in a recent interview.
On figuring out the murderers, he exclaimed: “Yes, sometimes I do!”
Speaking to What’s On TV he continued: “Sometimes you can go, ‘oh it must be that person’ - but it’s a matter of deduction really.
“You know it can’t be that person so then I have a think and go ‘oh it’s got to be that person.’”
Although he didn’t mention whether this would have changed the outcome of the plot in each episode, or how the story progressed each week.
He went on to speak about his character’s supposed changed demeanour over the years.
Fans began pointing out the Commissioner has become a little easier to work with as the series continues.
He explained: “I’ve enjoyed trying to give him softer relationships with everyone involved.
“There are times when he’s very stern with the police team, but he also employs his own style of tactic to get his point across.”
Viewers of last night’s episode were a little confused about the absence of Danny John-Jules character Dwayne Myers.
The finale of last season saw him sailing into the sunset as he ventured onto newer things.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy DI Mooney actor Ardal revealed: “We’re all dispensable.
Absolutely, when I heard that Danny was leaving, I thought, ‘Hmm. How will that play? How will the audience take that?’
“Because he’s a very popular character in the show, and he’s been there since the start as well, so there’s that.
“But we’ve seen time and time again that the show survives these cast changes.”
Dwayne’s exit has sparked the introduction of Shyko Amos - who is playing Ruby.
Ruby is the Commissioner’s niece, and sparks a brand new dynamic between her boss, DI Mooney, and her uncle, Commissioner Patterson.
Death in Paradise continues Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
