THE CHASE host Bradley Walsh was shocked when he discovered one of the contestants knew The Chaser Paul Sinha during this afternoon’s edition of the ITV quiz show.
The Chase: Contestant reveals he has met Paul Sinha before
The Chase host Bradley, 58, was joined by four new contestants as they prepared to take on The Chaser Paul ‘Sinnerman’ Sinha, 48.
After one contestant had been caught and one had made their way back to the players panel, contestant Sam took to the floor for his chance to test his knowledge .
23-year-old Sam was a trainee accountant from London and managed to build a sum of money to add to the winning jackpot on the ITV quiz show.
However, he failed to disclose to the show’s host Bradley Walsh that he knew The Sinnerman as it was his turn to face The Chaser.
We have met before
It was revealed the men had a past as they had both taken part in pub quiz challenges away from the ITV studio.
Paul instantly recognised the contestant and as he took his seat, welcomed the player saying: “Hello… again Sam.”
Bradley looked confused as Sam acknowledged The Sinnerman’s remark, then revealed to Bradley about his quizzing past.
“We have met before,” Paul told Bradley as the host looked on with his mouth wide open.
Sam then went on to explain: “I’ve played a pub quiz with you before a couple of times,” with Paul adding: “You seemed to have disappeared.
“But in the two years since you disappeared, you’ve got very good at quiz,” The Chaser told his competitor.
Sam acknowledged the pairs, saying: “Thank you, I’ve tried.
“I told people,” Sam continued as Bradley looked on in shock, but the host hit back: “You didn’t tell me.” Sam added: “I wasn't expecting to see him, I didn’t want to see him.”
Bradley then offered his support to Sam on taking on his opponent, asking: “Bit of revenge,” to which Sam replied: “Oh yeah.”
Sam took on Paul one more in the final chase round, joined by 39-year-old Martin and 63-year-old Cath who had all mangled to accumulate a sum of £19,000.
The threesome managed to stand their ground with The Chaser loosing out to beating them and relinquishing the grand jackpot.
The Chase: Bradley Walsh cracks joke and says 'I'll get my coat'
Earlier on in the episode, Bradley told the audience and the player’s panel he was leaving the studio after failing to land a joke.
The moment came when Bradley was talking to the first contestant, Deb, who admitted she loved to eat Venison meat cooke din alcohol.
As the 52-year-old supply teacher explained the reading behind her favourite meal, Bradley said: “Venison meat, oh deer.”
However, neither the audience or the other contestants picked up on Bradley’s remark, which led the host to make a shock comment.
As he realised his joke hadn’t gone down well, Bradley told Deb: “I’ll get my coat then.”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
