Nadia Sawalha hits out at Croydon Council over bin collections
Nadia stormed onto set wearing bin bags and tinfoil as she set about making her point on Loose Women.
The host was complaining about bins not being collected, and wasn’t shy about it.
The ITV show aired a video Nadia had previously posted to Instagram where she spoke about her ordeal.
She could be seen telling the camera: “Is anyone else having trouble with Croydon council? This new system for the recycling bins isn’t not working, guys.
There’s poo everywhere, there’s rats. Get it sorted
“I live in Croydon, I’ve got friends in Shirley, especially the people in Hanbury Mews. They haven’t had theirs picked up for four weeks!
“There’s poo everywhere, there’s rats. Get it sorted.
“People are paying their taxes and they want it sorted today.”
Back on the show, Nadia revealed: “An hour later [after the video was posted], the recycling bins were picked up.”
She added: “It’s unleashed the local people because people are sick and tired of this. I’ve had all sorts of requests for me to pick this up.”
Her Loose Women co-hosts commended her for her actions within the community.
Kaye Adams said: “It’s important to take up these causes.”
Meanwhile, Linda Robson joked: “If any of you need anything sorted, get her to do it.”
The programme also featured a reply from the council who said they were “grateful” to Nadia and other residents for bringing the issue to their attention.
Loose Women posted a gif of Nadia in her “blin-mageddon” get-up to their official Twitter account.
They captioned the video: “It's "rubbish" when the bins don't get collected. Luckily @nadiasawalha has "bin wheelie" good in the borough of Croydon helping get their rubbish sorted.”
“Woo fan dabby doozie,” one fan wrote.
While another shared: “Good on her! you tell @yourcroydon.”
“Ha ha she looks fab !” a third exclaimed.
A fourth simply stated: “Brilliant.”
Those watching at home were amused by Nadia’s way of resolving the issue as they took to the social media site to comment.
