Horror as violent asylum seeker 'tries to STAB German official' after deportation order
A VIOLENT asylum seeker allegedly attacked a German official with a knife after being told he will be deported from the country.
The asylum seeker stabbed a member of security who tried to intervene
Police said the man, who has not been named, carried out the shocking attack at a town hall in the city of Gladbeck on Monday.
It is believed he pulled the blade out of his trouser pocket and tried to injure himself after being told he must leave Germany.
The asylum seeker then stabbed a member of security who tried to intervene, leaving him with a deep cut to his hand.
He was then overpowered and arrested, and is currently being held in deportation custody.
The victim's injuries are so severe that he is unable to work, city spokesman Tim Deffte told newspaper Lokalkompass.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel controversially opened the country's doors to more than 800,000 refugees last year.

But she has since hardened her stance on migration after losing vast swathes of support to anti-immigrant parties.
Earlier this year she called for a ban on the burka following a string of Islamist terror attacks in the country this year.
Embattled Mrs Merkel told her CDU party's annual conference in Essen: "The full veil is not appropriate, it should be banned."

Douglas Murray slams Merkel's open-door refugee policy
The anti-immigrant party Alternative for Germany has blamed Monday's Berlin terror attack on Mrs Merkel's open-door approach.
Speaking earlier today, MEP Beatrix von Storch said: "It is not possible to let in so many refugees and as far as we know the terrorist was one of them.
"We have to look after our security and for the needs of our people. We will not be able to help everyone in need by taking them in."
