New Zealand mosque shooting: PM addresses nation - 'one of New Zealand's darkest days'
THE NEW Zealand Prime Minister has addressed the nation today after the horrific mass shooting in Christchurch.

Speaking to the country in an emergency press conference in the wake of the attack, Jacinda Ardern insisted that it was one of her darkest days in the country's history. The Prime Minister said: "This is and will be one of New Zealand’s darkest days. "This is as an unprecedented act of violence."
At this point in time, Miss Ardern did not confirm the number of injuries or fatalities.
She did, however, claim that it was a "significant event".
Ms Ardern added that the police had one person in custody.
The New Zealand Prime Minister did also admit that there could be others involved.

Police have also disclosed to Ms Ardern that there are multiple scenes.
She added: "Many of those who will've been directly affected by this shooting may be migrants to New Zealand.
"They may be refugees here. They have chosen to make NZ their home and it is their home.
"They are us. The person who has perpetuated this violence has no place in New Zealand.

"There is no place in New Zealand for such acts of extreme and unprecedented violence of which this was.
"For now my thoughts and all New Zealanders are with those who have been affected and also with their families."
Australian Prime minister Scott Morrison also released a statement following the event.
He said: "I'm horrified by the reports I’m following of the serious shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand.
"The situation is still unfolding but our thoughts and prayers are with our Kiwi cousins."
