The UK is bracing for heavy rain and bitter weather this weekend as the Met Office shared its verdict about the North Sea gusts about to batter parts of the country. The UK is most likely to go through mixed weather with parts of the country baking at 26C.

Weather maps from WXCHARTS for the weekend have turned blue indicating the possibility of wet and windy conditions for certain areas.

The maps show show the southern half of the UK may see bursts of heavy rain over the next few days, while northern parts could remain sunny with temperatures in places average for this time of year.

The Met Office said that 25C or 26C is likely from central to northwest parts of the UK on Friday, and similar temperatures are possible in western Scotland on Saturday.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert explained: "Repeated areas of rain are likely to affect southern Britain over the next few days, generating some localised impacts into the weekend.

"We currently have a yellow weather warning for rain in place, and there’s potential for further warnings this weekend.

"It’s a different story further north though, as high pressure brings warmer and sunnier conditions, with higher-than-average temperatures, particularly across parts of western Scotland.

"Eastern areas are likely to be cooler and at times, cloudier due to winds blowing off the North Sea.”

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris added: "Reminiscent of this time last week, the forecast for later this weekend comes with larger uncertainties than average. This is due to a more complex than usual meteorological pattern involving multiple corridors of heavy, locally thundery rain revolving around a slow moving area of low pressure.

"We are keeping warnings under review, and will look to issue them over the weekend as confidence increases, so please keep up to date with our latest forecasts and warnings."
