Shocking new weather predictions warn that the UK is set to be battered by violent thunderstorms.

Forget summer for now. At least that’s the verdict according to a striking new weather map which shows exactly when the UK should brace itself for thundery showers.

Monday, June 10 will be the worst day for storms according to the predictions by forecasters InMeteo, which has produced an interactive map on website Ventusky detailing the movement of the low pressure that are at the root of the wild weather.

The brutal conditions are expected across the Midlands, parts of north Wales and the Home Counties throughout the day.

A band of low pressure will work its way southeast and by 10am parts of Conwy, Denbighshire and Cheshire will experience storms.

They will then move across to the Midlands, particularly Birmingham and the Black Country by lunchtime.

The predictions also show that most of the UK will experience rain by the afternoon, though it won't be thundery everywhere. The heaviest of the downpours are expected in eastern areas, like Cambridgeshire, by 4pm.

At that time thunderstorms will be worst along the North Sea coast, especially in Lincolnshire.

Forecasters also said parts of the Home Counties, including Oxfordshire and Berkshire, will suffer through the storms on Monday night.

But rain looks set to clear overnight and Tuesday looks drier and warmer.

The Met Office is predicting a mixed bag of weather from today until Wednesday, June 12 on its long range forecast.

It says this evening and tonight it will be “dry with plenty of evening sunshine across England and Wales leading to a clear and chilly night”.

There could even be a “touch of grass frost in some rural spots”.

On Sunday it predicts that “after a chilly but largely bright start for England and Wales, cloud will gradually build as rain pushes southwards into Northern Ireland and northern England, followed by showers across Scotland.”

In its outlook for Monday to Wednesday it predicts that the weather is “staying cool with a northerly breeze and a mixture of sunny spells and showers over the next few days.”
