Joe Biden's latest attempt to shame Donald Trump over his ongoing legal issues spectacularly backfired as he became the subject of irate questions from voters.

A Biden-affiliated TikTok account sharing content on the former Republican president's conduct accidentally delivered a blow to its own candidate.

The account posted a clip on the social media platform on Sunday night about a former producer alleging that Trump had used a racial slur while filming season one of The Apprentice.

But rather than reacting to the subject of the TikTok video, the account's comment box was inundated by questions on inflation – and how Biden plans to resolve the major issue for millions of Americans.

Comments ranged from: "Why is my rent expensive" to "Why can't I afford the rent." Other poignant questions included: "Why did Joe Biden say poor kids are just as smart as white kids?"

The TikTok clip has raked up over 1.4 million views and 1,000 comments since June 2 but social media users appeared to widely sidestep the topic of the original video.

The latest attempt to take a hit at Donald Trump came 24 hours after the convicted former President joined TikTok.

He debuted on the app with a 13-second montage of his evening at a UFC fight in New Jersey showing him entering the arena and shaking hands with fans.

Within days of launching, the former president already amassed over four million followers - ten times the amount the joint Biden-Harris HQ account has since launching in February.

And Trump delivered yet another blow to the American President as records for May showed his campaign raised £110 million ($141m).

The campaign experienced an unprecedented surge in donations in the 24 hours after Trump was formally convicted on 34 felony charges in his hush money trial.

The former president shared a link to his donor website on Truth Social within minutes of the guilty verdict being read, causing it to crash almost immediately.

The Trump campaign said in a statement: "We are moved by the outpouring of support for President Donald J. Trump.

"The American people saw right through Crooked Joe Biden’s rigged trial, and sent Biden and Democrats a powerful message – the REAL verdict will come on November 5th."

They added that 25 percent of the May donors were first-time contributors.

Trump had raised £59 million ($76m) in April and more than £51 million ($65.6m) in March.

The Biden campaign hasn't confirmed its numbers for May but it raised £39 million ($51m) in April and £70 million ($90m) in March.
