'Put your money where your mouth is!' Labour MP demands Jeremy Corbyn cuts his £130k wage
A LABOUR MP has told Jeremy Corbyn to cut his own salary if he truly believes in maximum wage caps.
John Mann: Jeremy Corbyn should cap his own wage
John Mann said it would be great for the party if the hard-left leader took a pay reduction himself.
On Tuesday, Mr Corbyn said he supported a “maximum earnings limit” which would place a legal cap on how much people can earn in Britain.
Mr Mann, often a thorn in the side of the Opposition leader, supported the idea if Jeremy Corbyn put his money where his mouth is.

Jeremy would be taking a hit in the pocket, but this would make him more popular
Speaking on talkRADIO he said: “Jeremy Corbyn would be seen to be taking a lead in terms of social justice.
“It would be very good politics. We can impose this overnight."
The Labour leader earns a reported salary of about £130,000 and the MP for Bassetlaw believes Mr Corbyn would increase his credibility if he took a cut himself.
“Jeremy would be taking a hit in the pocket, but this would make him more popular because he’d be walking the walk not just talking the talk,” Mr Mann noted as he called for a cap on all MP’s wages.

However, the Labour politician stopped short of supporting a maximum earning ban across the country, saying “we shouldn’t discriminate in favour of the landed classes”.
He also shot down Mr Corbyn’s earlier comments that footballers were paid a “ridiculous” wage and would possibly look to limit their earnings.
“If a working-class lad from London or wherever rises up and becomes an international football star and gets paid a fortune – good luck to them," he said.
"But they should pay their proper taxes, I’m in favour of a 50 percent tax rate for the very wealthy, and we should be clamping down on tax avoidance with criminal charges.
“That’s what we should be doing!” He finished.
