Raiders lost historic manor house
BURGLARS have stolen antiques worth thousands of pounds in a raid on a historic mansion.
Owners Peter Prideaux-Brune, 68, and wife Elisabeth, above, were away from the 81-room manor house built in 1592 when the crooks broke in through a library window.
The couple were horrified to find £7,000 worth of antiques missing when they returned to Prideaux Place in Padstow, Cornwall.
Missing items included a mahogany mantle clock and a silver salver.
Mrs Prideaux-Brune – friends with Princess Anne and other royals – said all the antiques had great sentimental value.
She said: “The music box that was taken was a present from my husband on our first wedding anniversary.”
