Walking free, mother who faked Shannon Matthews abduction
BRITAIN'S most notorious mother Karen Matthews strolls free yesterday as part of her “rehabilitation”.
Matthews, who faked the abduction of her nine-year-old daughter Shannon in a bid to claim a £50,000 reward, looked relaxed as she enjoyed an outing with another woman from a bail hostel in the Home Counties.
Her short hairstyle is part of a makeover aimed at concealing her identity following her release from prison.
But Matthews, 36, does not seem that determined to keep a low profile, having earlier been spotted in a t-shirt emblazoned with Marilyn Monroe’s image.
Furious neighbours have warned the mother-of-seven not to return to her home in Dewsbury Moor, West Yorks.
Matthews and her boyfriend’s uncle Michael Donovan, 44, sparked a £3.2miilion police hunt when they kidnapped Shannon in February 2008.
She went on TV and tearfully appealed for the return of her “little princess”, who had been drugged and imprisoned in Donovan’s home, where she was eventually found by police.

Matthews served just half of her eight-year sentence. she is now said to be paying £28 a week towards the annual £26,000 cost of her hostel bed.
