Soldiers' boots destined for Afghanistan robbed
HIGH-tech boots destined for British troops fighting in Afghanistan have been stolen from a lorry, it emerged yesterday.
The Nato desert boots, worth £31,000, were taken from a truck parked in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The thieves cut the vehicle’s side curtain to grab 337 pairs of the boots, which have tough soles and breathable technology to keep feet cool in hot weather.
PC Chris Field, of Thames Valley Police, said: “This is a despicable crime as the equipment was intended for troops serving in Afghanistan.”
