M5 traffic RECAP: Delays near Gloucester as drivers grind to a halt after crash

Diversions routes are in place after the closure between J9 and J10 on the M5.

Police were first called at around 9.50am

The spokesperson also said the motorcyclist has suffered "suspected serious injuries".

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the closure is expected to remain in place for a number of hours with motorists asked to plan their route in advance and avoid the area.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police is asked to submit information by completing the following online form and quoting incident 142 of 12 May: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report," the spokesperson also said.

A Gloucester Police spokesperson said: "Officers have closed this M5 northbound between junctions 10 and 9 following a collision this morning (Tuesday 12 May).

"Police were called at around 9.50am with a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist near to junction 9.

"The motorcyclist is currently been assessed by paramedics after sustaining suspected serious injuries."

Motorists are being warned of delays of 10 minutes on the approach.

All southbound traffic is currently being held between J9 and J10 to allow emergency services to work safely at the scene.
