The little seaside village named one of UK's 5 best that most tourists won't know
This unsung village was recently named one of the best in the UK and overlooks a river, with breath-taking sand beaches, lush fields and a historic castle.

Llansteffan, in West Wales, was recently named second place in a list of the top 5 UK villages, just after Staithes in North Yorkshire. Close to Carmarthen, Llansteffan is a hidden gem with its village located on the River Tywi, which is Wales' longest river.
The village has much to offer, including a beautiful coastline, several sand beaches, and a majestic castle. Its castle dates back to the 12th century and overlooks the River Tywi on one side and the green farmlands of the countryside on the other.
Writing for Country Living, Claire Allen named her five favourite villages after spending an entire year walking 4,000 miles exploring the UK coastline, raising money for charity in the process.

Even further back in time, the castle was preceded by an Iron Age promontory fort, that was occupied around 600 BC.
Although in ruins, the castle’s dramatic twin-towered gatehouse still stands tall and reveals past tales from about 745 years ago.
Located along the River Tywi where it joins Carmarthen Bay, Llansteffan is in an exceptional position showcasing stunning landscapes.
Llansteffan Beach is also known for its golden sand and stunning views of Llansteffan Castle, while Scott’s Bay, is a more secluded sandy beach with red sandstone and siltstone.
