Blackpool fire victims pictured as 18-month-old baby in a coma after horror blaze

Two children - one in a "very poorly condition" - are in hospital after a horror house fire in Blackpool, which left two people dead, Lancashire Police said.

The victims of a horror house fire have been pictured as their two children are still in hospital, with one in a “very poorly condition” after the horrific blaze in Blackpool in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Emergengy services rushed to the scene in Peter Street after the home caught ablaze shortly after 2am on July 17. Lancashire Police have since confirmed that the victims, Josh Pearson, 28, and 24-year-old Danielle Bamber, lived inside the property, and were the parents of the injured children.

Mum Danielle was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while dad Josh was rushed to hospital where he later died. A hero neighbour came to the rescue of the two children by smashing the windows.

Their oldest son Oscar, six, is currently in a stable condition in hospital, but friends have revealed 18-month-old baby Lorenzo is in a coma.

In a heartbreaking tribute, Josh's sister Jacqueline said:  “I feel sick internally sick to be writing this, Joshua you were the best brother ever.

"I love you so so much. I can not believe this has happened to you. I won’t ever forget our phone call the other day and the amount we were laughing il [sic] cherish our memories forever! I love you forever and always

“Danielle you are going to be sadly missed! I’m so sorry this has happened to the both of you! I love you both so much! Rest in peace my beautiful angels.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman said in an earlier statement: “We have launched a joint investigation following a fatal fire in Blackpool this morning. Our officers were called to Peter Street in Blackpool at 2.39am following reports of a fire with people reported to be inside the property.

“There was a significant emergency response involving officers and our colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Tragically, a woman in her 20s was found deceased at the scene. A man in his 20s was later pronounced deceased at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

“Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this devastating time. Two children have been taken to hospital for treatment. One of them is in a very poorly condition.

“Work is ongoing with our colleagues from the fire service to establish the cause of the fire. We are keeping an open mind at this stage. Nobody has been arrested.”

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue added: "At 2.35am on Wednesday, 17th July 2024, four fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, and Bispham fire stations attended a fire involving a domestic property on Peter Street in Blackpool.

"Crews used three hose reels, six breathing apparatus, and two positive pressure ventilation fans to fight the fire. Fire crews remain on the scene."
