Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in relation to a reported beach rape.

Lincolnshire Police said that at 4am on Sunday, July 21, a woman was believed to have been raped on Skegness beach.

After the report, the force released several images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

Now police have redoubled their efforts to find the man in their latest appeal, and have shared video footage of him.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "We are reissuing our appeal to try and identify the man in the footage who we would like to speak to in relation to a report of a rape in Skegness.

“The incident is believed to have happened at around 4am on Sunday, July 21.

"We have previously shared images of the man who we believe may have information that will assist our investigating and now we are releasing some CCTV footage to help our appeal.

“We're asking for our post to be shared as the man may not live in the Lincolnshire area.

"If you recognise this man, please contact us."

Once a thriving seaside town, Skegness still attracts tourists every summer and has long been a family favourite for those looking for a cheap getaway in the UK.

But last year it was named the most dangerous neighbourhood in the county, with locals "giving up" on calling the police.

Crime statistics paint the town in a not-so-glamorous light.

“Skeggy” has recorded a rate of 181 offences per 1,000 inhabitants – more than double the UK average of 87, reported The Mirror in June.

In contrast, the seaside town of Padstow in Cornwall – where chef Rick Stein has four restaurants – is the safest seaside place, with just 14 offences per 1,000 people.

It’s a century since Billy Butlin set up his first amusement stall on the town’s seafront. He opened his first holiday camp in 1936.

Rod Horne, who had travelled from Lincoln with his wife Dee and grandson Harrison, five, to visit the resort earlier this year said, as reported by the Mirror: “I’m really surprised by those figures. We come here quite regularly and we’ve not seen any problems."
