England fans are paying thousands as ticket prices skyrocket in anticipation of the Euro 2024 final against Spain on Sunday.

Stood in front of the Brandenberg Gate in the centre of Berlin wearing England shirts, husband and wife Ryhan Choudhury, 38 and Rahanna Choudhury, 33 from east London, along with Spanish-based relative Zane Khan, 16, spent a total of £10,000 on last-minute tickets for the game.

Ryhan said: "I'm a really passionate England fan and I'm always desperate for England to win.

"This might be my only chance to see it and I'm in a position to be able to do this. So I thought, okay, it's now or never."

When 16-year-old Zane's mother found out he had bought tickets she told Ryhan not to spend the money.

Ryhan said: "His mum was like 'oh, you shouldn't have done it' and I said 'it's too late, he's coming I got the ticket'."

Zane, who has lived in Spain for several years, said he had slightly split loyalties about the game and was especially excited about watching Barcelona star Lamine Yamal play for England's opponents.

"I can't wait to see him play," the teenager told Express.co.uk. "He's only three weeks older than me. I just keep looking at him thinking how is he doing this, he's the same age as me."

In addition to the costs of the game, Rahanna, said the group had also spent big on flights and accommodation.

She said: "We got flights leaving at 9am from Heathrow with a 40 minute layover in Copenhagen.

"Altogether it was an additional £3,500. We got a place to stay on booking.com and it was about £1,500 for four nights."

The decision to come to Berlin was very last minute, Ryhan added, and was made shortly after the victory against the Netherlands.

He said: "We got the tickets straight after after we beat the Dutch. We were just in a frenzy. But I knew it was now or never because otherwise it was just going to go through the roof."
