Britain has finally received the hot weather it has craved this summer, meaning many people are taking trips to the country's best coastal spots.

Kennack Sands Beach is located on the east coast of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, and has been hailed as the place to find the UK's clearest water.

It is a popular location with tourists, who head there to enjoy the beach's rock pools or relax at nearby cafes.

Kennack Sands is well sheltered from the wind thanks to its location, making it popular with surfers.

The beach is split into two parts – Kennack Sands West and Kennack Sands East. They are divided by the rocky Caerverracks, where the many rock pools can be found.

For history buffs, the beach also boasts World War 2 defences at the eastern end. This includes an anti-tank wall running along the back of the beach.

Near this part of the beach is a nature reserve where species of flora and fauna flourish. Dogs are also permitted on the eastern part of the beach.

One Trip Advisor user said: "Gorgeous beach, we love it here! Dog friendly most of the time and has always been relatively quiet whenever we have been there.

"Didn’t have an issue with the car park. Buy your ticket as soon as you get there, and get extra time if you need to. It’s all written clearly on the signage.

"Mora cafe was amazing! Fresh tasty food at a reasonable price and served quickly too! Looking forward to going again on our next visit."

A second said: "Beautiful beach but beware the car park - save your parking ticket so that you can contest the fine that could arrive a week later even if you've paid for your parking."

A third added: "Beach is clean, lots of pebbles on one part as you make your way to the sea, but after that sandy. Quite a few jelly fish in the water.

"It is a lifeguards' beach so safe to swim and they guard it well. There are two cafes, ample parking. Short walk to the beach. Cafe does the most amazing pasties.

"One side is those without dogs, and then another short walk to the other side of Kennack Sands for those with dogs.
