The murders of the wife and two daughters of BBC sports commentator John Hunt are “utterly devastating”, the broadcaster said in a note to staff.

Police are now hunting suspect 26-year-old Kyle Clifford after the three women were found inside their home in Ashlyn Close, Bushey.

Neighbours heard screams at around 7pm on Tuesday evening before armed police descended on the quiet street. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, 61-year-old Carol Hunt and daughters Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, all died at the scene.

John Hunt is best known for commentating on 5 Live's racing coverage.

Staff were sent a heartfelt note from the BBC today, adding that they are supporting the commentator.

The note read: “The news today about John Hunt’s family is utterly devastating.

“Our thoughts are with John and his family at this incredibly difficult time and we will provide him with all the support we can.”

Victim Louise, a dog groomer, is believed to be suspect Clifford's ex-girlfriend. Sister Hannah owned her own beauty business.

A primary school in Enfield, North London area has also been put on lockdown as cops scour the area for the suspect.

Armed police have also stormed a house on Rendelsham Road, as helicopters fly overhead.

Police have urged members of the public to not approach Clifford if he is seen, as he may be armed with a crossbow, and call 999 instead.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “This is an incredibly difficult incident for the victims’ family and we would ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with what has happened."
