Armed police have stormed a home in North London as the hunt for a triple murder suspect continues.

Cops armed with guns descended on a property on Rendelshem Road in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield, in the hunt for suspect Kyle Clifford.

The 26-year-old is on the run after a horrific crossbow attack left a mother and her two daughters shot dead.

Police and paramedics rushed to Ashlyn Close in Bushey, Hertfordshire, shortly after neighbours reported "screams" around 7pm on Tuesday.

Despite their best efforts, Carol Hunt, 61, Louise Hunt, 25, and Hannah Hunt, 28, died at the scene.

Carol is believed to be the wife of BBC Five Live Commentator John Hunt.

The house, close to Gordon Hill railway station, was swarmed by officers on Wednesday morning, according to neighbours.

Two officers were stood outside the property at 1.30pm, after a cordon was removed. They could be heard screaming, "Armed police, come to the door and raise your hands".

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “They kept going in and out of the property carrying guns, the whole road was taped off.

“It was over quite quickly but there’s been helicopters flying around the area all day.

“I don’t recognise the suspect at all, as far as I’m concerned he didn’t live in the house.”

Dog groomer Louise is believed to be the suspect's ex-girlfriend. Sister Hannah is a beautician with her own company.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “This is an incredibly difficult incident for the victims’ family and we would ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with what has happened.

“Whilst we are still in the early stages of this investigation, we are actively seeking Kyle Clifford who we believe could be in the areas of Hertfordshire or North London.

“Given the serious nature of the incident, I would ask anyone who knows where he is to contact police immediately. If you believe you see him, please do not approach him and dial 999 straight away. He may still be in possession of a weapon.

“Our enquires will continue over the coming days to ascertain the full circumstances of what happened but I would also like to take this opportunity appeal to anyone who was in the area around Ashlyn Close from around lunchtime on Tuesday until 7pm, and believes they may have seen anything that could assist the investigation, to contact us.

“This incident will of course be of concern to local residents. Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the area today so please do speak to them if you need to.”

The force added: "You can report information online, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting Op Infauna.

"Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form."
