A woman has set the internet ablaze when she revealed she posted a note on the windscreen of a neighbour she had never spoken to in person asking them not to block the street with their car.

Posting on the social media site Reddit the unnamed lady said she lived in a cul-de-sac where there were limited spaces for parking.

Howwever, she revealed a neighbour who she had never spoken to personally often had people round at the weekends who filled up the spaces in the street.

Revealing how one day the behaviour pushed her over the edge, the woman said when she came home to find a large SUV "parked across two spaces" she decided to leave a note saying "please don’t double park. People who live here can’t park their cars".

The Mirror reports, afterwards the woman said once the car had gone the neighbour in question "screamed" at her in the street calling it "rude" to leave a note.

Taking to Reddit, she said: "I’ve never spoken to my neighbours in the houses across the street from us, but I’ve seen them about plenty. Our house is in a circular dead-end street with them across the road. Parking around our houses is limited, but every weekend, guests and visitors tend to use our spaces rather than park on the street.

"Today, I was driving back from a few errands to find there were no spaces because a massive SUV parked across two. Feeling irritated this is a constant, I parked up on the street and went into my house to write the following note: 'Please don’t double park. People who live here can’t park their cars'. I left it on their windshield and thought nothing of it.

"A few hours later, another neighbour of mine (the couple in the house directly next to me) knocks on my door to say the car has gone and we can park our cars.

"Suddenly from across the street, another woman comes storming over waving my note and screaming about how embarrassed she is."

The Reddit poster said she came to learn the SUV was owned by one of her neighbour's family members visiting from America, and that they were humiliated after reading it.

She added: "[She said the note was] 'completely out of order'. Her daughter then joins the fray, also screaming about how she can’t believe a neighbour would do this and how I’ve intimidated her mother. She even threatened to call the police! My other neighbours jumped to my defence, saying they also couldn’t park outside their own home and the screaming continued."

Making light of the situation, the woman said: "Apparently receiving a note is embarrassing but screaming and shouting in the street is totally fine..."

While most users praised her for leaving the note, others condemned the driver for their reaction upon receiving it.

One user said: "I had neighbours who would repeatedly park in my driveway. When we confronted them the crazy woman got right up in my face yelling her head off. The cops did nothing. They kept doing it until we moved."

Another user added: "They seem to be the type of people who think they are all that matters in the world and the rest of us are just NPCs (non-player characters) in the video game that is their lives. How dare you question the main characters?"

A third user said: "I'm from America and double parking is a huge no-no."
