Mother accused of killing her four children in house fire pleads not guilty

A mother has pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey of causing the deaths of her fours sons in a house fire.

Deveca Rose was charged with four counts of manslaughter after Leyton and Logan Hoath, both three, and Kyson and Bryson Hoath, four, died after the blaze in Collingwood Road, Sutton, south London, on December 16, 2021.

The brothers, who were two sets of twins, were rescued from the fire, given CPR and taken to two hospitals in south London. But they were later pronounced dead by medics.

Ms Rose, 29, of Wallington, Sutton, south London, entered the not guilty plea at the Old Bailey on Monday, June 3.

The defendant, who is on bail, entered her pleas during a hearing before Judge Mark Lucraft KC at the Old Bailey.

The trial, which was put back a week to September 9, is due to take up to three weeks.
