A man tried to set fire to an Islamic centre using an instant barbeque lighting bag.
A man tried to set fire to an Islamic centre using an instant barbeque lighting bag, CCTV footage has revealed.
Surrey Police have launched an investigation into the attempted arson attack on October 18 at Molesey Islamic Cultural Centre in Surbiton.
In the CCTV footage, the man can be seen approaching the wooden door of the centre and lighting an instant barbeque bag.
The fire did not take hold and there was no significant damage.
Molesey Islamic Cultural Centre was founded in 2001 and has been serving the local Muslim community for over 22 years.

The centre says on its website: "Not only is this a place of worship but also a place where the younger generation can feel safe, comfortable and have the facilities to bond and create relationships with fellow Muslims in the area."
Surrey Police now wish to identify the man in the footage and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
He is seen wearing a black hoodie, with the hood up in the grainy images.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses following attempted arson at the Molesey Islamic Cultural Centre last Wednesday.
"We want to identify the person in the CCTV images and ask anyone with any information to please contact us immediately via direct message, quoting PR/45230117900.
"These CCTV images are the best we have, and we are hoping that they will assist with our appeal."
