Bank station: London Underground station evacuated - firefighters rush to the scene
BANK underground station was "shut", according to reports, earlier on Wednesday afternoon with witnesses saying they were "evacuated" as firefighters rushed to the scene.

London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene due to an "automatic fire alarm sounding". One witness wrote on Twitter: “Bank station being evacuated minutes ago. London Fire Brigade is on the scene.”
Another added: “Anyone any idea what’s happening at Bank Station just been shut?”
One passenger complained of an "emergency" at Bank station, before multiple announcements for a "medical professional" at Westminster station.
They wrote on Twitter: "Bank underground evacuated because of emergency. Now Westminster underground multiple announcements for medical professional."
Some train passengers said they were not allowed off their train during the momentary disruption.

One wrote: “Hi what is the emergency at Bank station please? I wasn’t allowed off the tube?”
Another wrote: “What’s happening at Bank station?”
A third added: “What just happened in Bank station?
“Why was there an emergency announcement where everyone needed to leave?”
The incident is thought to have also impacted the DRL line.
One wrote: “Why is there an emergency exit at Bank station??? #DLRLondon”
At just before 13.15pm, London Fire Brigade explained they had responded to an automatic fire alarm.
They said: “We were called to an automatic fire alarm sounding. The incident is now over.”
Bank and Monument stations are home to several London Underground lines, including the Central line, DLR, Northern line and Waterloo & City line, as well as the District and Circle line.
The station, in the City of London, spans the length of King William Street in the capital.
