Paddington Station train crash: Train smashes into buffers at packed London station
A TRAIN crashed into a buffer at Paddington Station this morning during rush hour.
Great Western Railway said the service from Plymouth had a “low impact collision” when it arrived at London Paddington. People took to social media following the incident at the busy station, with one describing hearing a “bang”.
A Twitter user shared a picture of the train involved in the smash.
They captioned the post: “Poor lad has a mare this morning. There's a barrier there son... #GWR #Paddington.”
Another tweeted: “Our @GWRHelp train just crashed into the buffers at Paddington.”
A third wrote: “Ah, that confirms the bang I just heard a few minutes ago while standing on Platform 8…”
One more said: “I was on the train & it was barely noticeable - apart from the audible crunch.”
There were no injures in the crash which took place as commuters battled into work on Monday morning.
A Great Western Railway spokeswoman said: “I can confirm the 0451 Plymouth to Paddington service has had a low impact collision on arrival at London Paddington and damaged its nose cone.
“No passengers or crew have been injured.”
Network Rail said on Twitter: “We are aware of a low speed impact with a buffer at platform 5 at Paddington.
“There are no reports of any injuries.
“Please bear with us as this may cause some delays at the station.
"Thank you for you patience and understanding.”
