Royal Wedding FURY as event to ABOLISH monarchy held as UK celebrates Meghan and Harry
PATRIOTIC Royal Family supporters erupted with fury after anti-royalist group Republic gathered in London to plan a “monarchy-free future” – on the day of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Royal Wedding.

Anti-royalists stirred up a hornet’s nest of controversy at the event, which featured guest speakers Emma Dent Coad, Labour MP for Kensington, and Tommy Sheppard, SNP MP for Edinburgh East.
During the course of the event, Mr Sheppard said he “had his fingers well and truly crossed” when making the oath of allegiance in the House of Commons.
And Ms Dent Coad called for a new national anthem to replace God Save the Queen.
Other campaigners came from as far away as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Spain.

However, while Republic’s Facebook page featured plenty of support for the Royal Family, with many others who voiced their disapproval.
One wrote: “What a miserable bunch of jealous and sour people on this site. I love the Monarchy.
“I’ve loved the wedding of Harry and Meghan today.
“I’ve served Her Majesty the Queen and would willingly do so again.

“The Monarchy and the Royal Family bring so much to this tiny speck of a country.
“We are so lucky to have a system that is the envy of the world.”
Another royalist added: “The tourism the Royal Family brings in makes them a huge asset, and our country had tradition and history.
“The jealous minority want to oust the Royal Family.

“If you hate them and the good they do then renounce you citizenship and heritage and leave the UK. You will not be missed.”
Luke Bollards wrote: “The day this country becomes a republic is a day to mourn.”

Graham Smith, who helped organise yesterday’s event at the St Bride Foundation in Bride Lane, London, said: “This wedding isn't a national celebration, it's a royal parade that'll cost the taxpayers dear.

"The International Republican Convention will be an opportunity to showcase the positive case for renewed democracy and an end to monarchies everywhere.
"I'm delighted we'll have members of parliament, activists and academics all speaking on Saturday - all with the same clear message: monarchy doesn't work.
"The royals think the patronising soap opera will sustain them, yet all the evidence is that people are turning off their brand. Most people just don't care anymore."
