William and Kate 'to have' Christmas lunch AWAY from £4.5m refurbished Anmer Hall
DO YOU go to the in-laws or the relatives?
That is the anxious decision many couples are forced to make over Christmas and it seems the Cambridges are no different.
However it appears that Kate and William may have come up with a cunning way to see everyone on Christmas Day, in a move that will certainly keep all the grannies happy.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are believed to be spending this year's festive season at Anmer Hall, which has just seen a £4.5million refurbishment.
However for the big meal itself, the couple and George will have lunch with the Queen a stone's throw away from their pad at Sandringham House.
It is thought that the Duchess of Cambridge's parents Carole and Michael as well as her siblings Pippa and James won't be invited to turkey with the Queen. But they are expected to decamp to Norfolk for the festive season, ensuring George will get fussed over by all his nearest and dearest on the big day.
It is highly unlikely that Kate’s family will be invited to the big Christmas lunch, or the famous Boxing Day shoot
A Royal insider said: "It is highly unlikely that Kate’s family will be invited to the big Christmas lunch, or the famous Boxing Day shoot.
"Perhaps one day they will be invited to the big house for tea, but not for lunch or dinner, and not on Christmas Day.
"The Queen is fond of Kate and doesn’t mean to exclude her family – indeed she has broken many of the old rules for them in the past.
"But if all of her children and grandchildren’s wives had their families to lunch, there wouldn’t be enough room, even at Sandringham House’s dining room."
The source also told the Daily Mail that the Middleton family will likely be at the morning church service at Sandringham but then head to Anmer Hall and wait for the return of the Duke and Duchess.
However, the insider added that Kate is expected to join her relatives back at their new home after celebrating Christmas with the Queen.
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman would not comment on the rumours.
The news comes as Anmer Hall is almost ready to open its doors to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after two years of renovation work.
The Norfolk house is a Grade II listed property and the 200-year-old building was a 30th birthday present from the Queen to William.
The mansion boasts ten bedrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court and the property's refurbishment includes a new kitchen and driveway.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who is pregnant with her second child, returned to public engagements last week after suffering from acute morning sickness.
She was out of the limelight for 11 weeks after suffering an extended bout of hyperemesis gravidarum.
It was the same condition that also blighted the early stages of her first pregnancy with Prince George.
