Meghan Markle's strange excuse for not wearing a poppy to Kris Jenner's party revealed

Meghan Markle was pictured not wearing a poppy on Remembrance Weekend, despite her husband Prince Harry proudly sporting one on his smart black suit on Saturday evening. The couple, who live in the US, were among the 300 guests in attendance at Kris Jenner's glamorous 70th birthday party in Beverly Hills.

Arriving at Jeff Bezos's multi-million-pound mansion, where the glamorous event took place, Harry looked extremely protective of his wife as he walked slightly in front of her. Meghan and Harry, who are proud parents of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, both wore black outfits, perfectly suited for the James Bond theme.

But Meghan attracted criticism for not pinning a poppy to her ouftit, but sources have rushed to defend the Duchess and explain why she went without.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, sources revealed that Meghan was unable to visibly honour the war dead as poppies are not widely available in the States, unlike in Commonwealth countries.

Meghan has previously been pictured wearing a poppy during Remembrance alongside her husband, who served two tours in the Army in Afghanistan.

The couple also both sported one each during a joint video about online violence against children last year.

During a trip to the United States Navy SEALs in San Diego in 2023, Meghan proudly sported a poppy brooch.

According to royal author Tom Bower, Harry appeared "fed up" after pictures of the couple arriving at the private event were released.

The author told the Daily Mail: "He looks fed up being paraded, one day at sports match and on another day at a celeb party.

"Clearly, he is now worried what revenge his brother might one day carry out against himself and his ambitious wife."
