This piece of jewellery worn by Princess Kate is worth a huge £66 million.

The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace is one of the most extravagant pieces of jewellery worn by the Princess of Wales, says jewellery expert Stephanie Tyler from Purely Diamonds.

It’s a platinum and diamond necklace that the Nizam of Hyderabad gifted to Queen Elizabeth II in 1947.

Tyler said: “The Nizam of Hyderabad necklace is a truly delicate and extravagant piece. It features 13 emerald-cut diamonds and a pear-shaped centre diamond and is rumoured to be the Royal family's most expensive piece, estimated at around £66 million.”

In February 2014, the necklace was worn for the first time by the Princess of Wales for an event at the National Portrait Gallery, pairing it with a navy-blue Jenny Packham gown, reports Woman and Home.

The necklace was made by Cartier in 1935 is an intricate masterpiece featuring more geometric diamonds nestled in the abstract floral design.

Originally, it was given to Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift to celebrate her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947.

At the time, the Nizam of Hyderabad was one of the richest rulers in the world and Jewels of Nizams still remain some of the largest and most expensive jewels in present day India.

But this jewel isn’t the only expensive piece owned by the Royal Family.

Another of the most expensive accessories includes the Cartier halo tiara, worn by the princess on her wedding day in 2011.

“It features 739 brilliant-cut diamonds and 149 baguette diamonds and has an estimated value of around £1 million, making it the ultimate princess tiara that many girls dream of.”

One of the most iconic pieces of royal jewellery is Princess Kate’s engagement ring which originally belonged to Princess Diana.

Tyler said: “Diana’s engagement ring is truly a beautiful piece of jewellery. It’s a 12-carat oval cut Ceylon sapphire, set in 18-karat white gold and has an estimated value of £300,000 today.”
