Princess Kate forms 'very close' bond with King as 'emotional' lunch details revealed
The Princess of Wales shares a good bond with her father-in-law, with the relationship between the pair only made stronger as a result of their health battles.

Princess Kate is one of the most popular members of the Royal Family and is known to be close to a number of Royals, including her husband’s dad the King.
While it is well-documented that she shared a special bond with the late Queen when she was monarch, it appears a similar relationship has formed between the Princess of Wales and King Charles, especially over the course of the last year.
After both undergoing operations earlier this year in the same hospital, and both being diagnosed with cancer shortly after, it appears that their health struggles have strengthened their relationship, proving that Prince Harry’s suggestion of illnesses bringing families together could ring true.
According to a Palace source, the King’s first moving gesture to the princess during her health scare was in January when Kate, 42, was in hospital for abdominal surgery.
Despite also being a patient at the London Clinic for his own prostate operation, the 75-year-old monarch went to visit his daughter-in-law in her room to make sure she was okay.

The King continued to check up on Kate when they were both discharged from the hospital, according to The Sun, and even went to see the princess for an “emotional” lunch at Windsor Castle the day before she released a video announcing her cancer diagnosis to the world in March.
A source said: “They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter.”
Another royal expert said: “They are two patients going through a common health experience. They are bound to have a close connection.”
While illness may have brought them together, it appears that Princess Kate and the King were close long before their diagnosis, with the pair spotted sharing a number of laughs over the years.

The monarch has also spoken fondly about Kate before in a number of speeches.
On a trip to Kenya last year, Charles spoke about the princess in his keynote speech at a state banquet in Nairobi.
He said: 'It was here, in sight of Mount Kenya, that my son, The Prince of Wales, proposed to his wife, now my beloved daughter-in-law.”
In footage showing behind-the-scenes of the King’s Coronation rehearsals, the princess and King also embraced each other fondly as they greeted each other in Westminster Abbey ahead of the big day, showing just how much they care for each other.
