A commentator has questioned if Prince Harry is now his fabulous wife, Meghan Markle's "plus one", since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, and even offered her own advice to help their marriage.

Writing a column in the Daily Mail, journalist Amanda Platell questioned: "Barely two years after he portrayed himself as the forgotten Spare in his venge-fest book of the same name, is Prince Harry in danger of becoming a spare part in his own marriage, too?"

Reflecting on her own marriage, Amanda writes: "So Meghan, take note to avoid your marriage ending up like mine – a bitter and costly divorce followed by a lifetime of ‘what ifs’."

She adds in her own personal advice, writing: "As for John and me, if only we’d been mature enough – we were only in our mid-20s – to sit down and discuss the distance that had grown between us, I think we could have saved our marriage, even after the affair."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have both focused on their own engagements and work over the past few weeks. Meghan Markle turned heads at the LA Children's Hospital gala greeting children, dressed in a showstopping red Carolina Hererra dress, whereas Prince Harry had conducted important charity endeavours in New York, the UK, and South Africa.

This included a trip to the UK on September 30, where Prince Harry attended the WellChild Awards, to celebrate the inspirational qualities of children and young people living with serious illnesses or complex medical needs.

Previously, the royal duo, who reside in Montecito, California, had conducted engagements together, with visits to Nigeria and Colombia.

Commenting on Prince Harry's stance on previous tours, Amanda further wrote: "That a miserable-looking Harry increasingly cuts a forlorn figure, playing second fiddle to the magnificent Meghan. During their two faux-royal tours to Nigeria and Colombia earlier this year, he was very much the sideshow."

Other fans of the royal duo, however, have branded them a "power couple" with the way they portrayed themselves during their engagements together to highlight important causes, including children's safety online.

Meghan Markle's major U-turn about her children's royal titles due to key conversation

Meghan Markle reportedly wanted her children to keep their official royal titles after a chat with two senior members of the Royal Family.

Although the duchess and her husband Prince Harry decided to step away from the Royal Family in 2020 and relocate to California, the couple seemingly did not want to cut all ties with the Palace.

This was seen in 2023 when Meghan and Harry decided that they wanted their children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, to adopt royal titles, despite the fact that Meghan and Harry can no longer use HRH titles.
