Real reason why Prince William and Kate don't want to move into Prince Andrew's home

The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly unlikely to move into the Royal Lodge anytime soon.

Despite ongoing speculation, Prince William and Kate Middleton have no plans to move into Prince Andrew’s £30 million Royal Lodge, even if the Duke of York is eventually evicted from the Windsor property.

According to royal insiders, the Prince and Princess of Wales are more than content to remain in their current home at Adelaide Cottage, a smaller residence that better suits their current needs.

King Charles has reportedly been trying to encourage Prince Andrew to leave the Royal Lodge for over a year, but the disgraced Duke of York has steadfastly refused to vacate the property.

The move was initially thought to be part of a plan for William and Kate to take up residence in the spacious 30-bedroom mansion, which would provide ample space for their three children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

However, sources suggest that William and Kate have their reasons for staying put. One key factor is Kate’s health. The Princess has been largely absent from royal duties this year as she recovers from a cancer diagnosis, and her well-being is William’s top priority.

“William is not interested in the property, at least not at the moment when all his focus is on Kate's health,” said royal expert Richard Kay.

Moreover, William reportedly feels that moving into yet another royal residence would send the wrong message, especially given his advocacy work on homelessness.

“William has also ruefully conceded that occupying yet another royal mansion – he already has a substantial Kensington Palace apartment and Anmer Hall near Sandringham in Norfolk – is not a good look for a prince who campaigns against homelessness,” Kay explained.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew remains adamant about staying at Royal Lodge, despite the pressure from King Charles and the looming financial challenges associated with maintaining the historic property.

With no official royal duties to occupy his time, Andrew has reportedly taken up a series of unusual hobbies, including a newfound obsession with monitoring live plane traffic from around the world.

As tensions between the royal brothers continue, it’s unclear how long Prince Andrew will be able to hold onto the Royal Lodge, especially as the costly upkeep of the crumbling Grade II-listed building continues to be a point of contention.
