How much do you think Buckingham Palace could sell for? With just renovations alone costing £369m over ten years, you can take a guess at the value of the royal property.

If King Charles ever decided to sell the poperty, he could find himself one of the richest men in the world. That's because, according to the experts, he is sitting on an asset worth £1bn.

Estate agents Purplebricks has estimated the price of several prestiguious buildings in the UK, including the royal palace.

The property valuations were calculated through analysing the square footage, locations, and building features.

Consdering Buckingham Palace has 775 bedrooms, 19 state rooms and can accomodate 30,000 guests, not to mention plenty of pets, you can see why the property would be worth so much.

While the Palace is going through renovations, the King and Queen Consort are staying in another property, Clarence House, but if they sold their official residence, they could pocket £1.25bn.

The property was finished in 1705 by John Sheffield who became the Duke of Buckingham and gave it his name.

It had not been intended as a royal palace, but was taken over by Queen Victoria in 1837 after which it stayed in the monarchy.

Though most of us have not seen the interiors, the palace offers perfectly positioned balconies, stunning views of The Mall and St James' Park.

All that grandeur also comes with armed security guards of course and wall-to-wall surveillance cameras.

If Buckingham Palace was to be sold upwards of £1bn, it would make the sum more than four times the price of Britain’s most expensive home.

Put up for sale last year, the 40-bed Georgian mansion in the centre of Regent’s Park was put on the market for £250million by its Saudi Arabian prince owner.

Other famed landmarks on Purplebricks' list include Somerset House, valued at £481.1million, Windsor Castle with a £269.9million price tag were it marketed today, Ediburgh Castle valued at £146.9million, and Westminster Abbey at £49.1m.

Like the other castles on the list, Westminster Abbey is steeped in royal history, being the resting place for thirty royals including 13 kings, four queens regnant and 11 queens consort.
