Prince William's selfie with Taylor Swift is said to have "rubbed salt in the wound" after the Shake It Off singer reportedly turned down Meghan Markle. Reports suggest that Meghan, 42, had requested for the singer to be a guest on her Archetypes podcast, which came to an end in 2022, but she declined through her representative.

Insiders claim that the Duchess of Sussex is "still feeling sore" about the snub and will now see the viral selfie with the pop star and her brother-in-law as "a bitter pill to swallow". A source claimed: "It's no secret that Meghan went out of her way to try and build a relationship with Taylor, but got nowhere.

"It's hard for her and Harry not to see this as being a calculated way for William and the royals to undermine them further. It's certainly rubbing salt into the wound." They go on to suggest that Harry and Meghan may also see the picture as a "slightly pointed message towards them" after reportedly feeling as though William in particular liked to "align themselves with anyone who the Sussexes have tried to associate themselves with".

"Going to see Taylor Swift is being taken as proof of that," the source added to Heat Magazine before going on to say that the pill was particularly hard to swallow as support from "high-profile friends" had been "thin on the ground" lately.

Prince William was all smiles in a behind-the-scenes selfie with Taylor and two of his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at Wembley Stadium last month.

Another snap shows the four of them posing alongside the Anti-Hero singer's boyfriend Travis Kelce, who has been supporting her along the way.

The 34-year-old pop icon posted the snap in view of her 238million followers alongside the caption: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start."

The viral picture sent fans into overdrive further when it also appeared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram page alongside the words: "Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour."

Prince William and his children relished the three-hour concert from the comfort of a private box, overlooking thousands of fans.

A viral video captured the father-of-three grooving to Taylor's infectious tune Shake It Off, much to the delight of fans who flocked to social media to share their thoughts.

"We all know he is Royalty and in line to be King, but he is a person first. Prince William dancing to Shake It Off is my new fav video," one wrote on the platform X.

A second shared: "After a tough 6 months, Prince William deserves every happiness. How wonderful to see his joyful dancing on his birthday."

"Loved to see Prince William's joyful dancing," another commented.

It's not the first time the Prince Of Wales has taken a liking to the global popstar.

After joining her and Jon Bon Jovi at a charity event at Kensington Palace back in 2013, he is quoted as saying via People Magazine: "Frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, 'Come with me'... I got up like a puppy and went, 'Yeah OK, that seems like a great idea, I'll follow you'."
