Meghan Markle knows a memoir detailing her life as a working royal would fly off the shelves, but the prospect reportedly fills King Charles with horror, an author has claimed.

Tom Quinn said the Duchess of Sussex is aware a book would also boost her latest business venture, America Riviera Orchard.

He told the Mirror: "For all her efforts to make a success of her new online business, America Riviera Orchard, Meghan knows a personal memoir of her time in the UK as a working royal would sell millions of copies and make her the sort of money she craves."

Mr Quinn claimed Meghan is "acutely aware" such a book would "boost traffic" to her new business, adding: "All this fills King Charles with horror because Harry is bound to be a major contributor to the book. And we know there is a lot more material."

After Spare hit the shelves, the Duke of Sussex said he had enough material for two books. Mr Quinn added: "With all this hanging over his head, Charles is not in a forgiving mood.

The author claimed if Harry were to admit to his father and Prince William he had gone too far and would not make more "embarrassing revelations", then things might be different.

Mr Quinn argued: "But Harry is in no mood to apologise like his wife, he still believes all the apologies need to come from his family."

Harry demanded an apology for Meghan from the Royal Family during an interview with the Daily Telegraph. Addressing the Windsors, he told the publication: "You know what you did and I now know why you did it. And you've been caught so just come clean."

It wasn't made clear what Harry was asking his family to apologise for, but he has voiced his view some royals opposed his relationship with Meghan.

Relations between the Sussexes and members of the Royal Family have been strained since Harry and Meghan's exit, which was closely followed by a series of allegations against the Windsors published in Spare, aired in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and detailed in the couple's Netflix series, Harry & Meghan.

Royal expert Robert Hardman has said there is a "trust issue" between Harry and the King, and that he suspects the Duke will pen a second volume of his memoir, Spare.

Mr Hardman based his view, first reported by the Independent, on the fact Harry and Meghan's wedding is barely covered in the bestselling work, with four to five pages dedicated to the historic event.

Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair's royal editor, told YouTube podcast Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered that Harry should avoid revealing more details about his family, especially at a time when King Charles and Princess Kate are undergoing cancer treatment.

She said: "Is this the time to be settling old scores? Is this the time to be going back over a painful past? I think, absolutely not."

Ms Nicholl suggested it might be better for Harry to share details on his and Meghan's life after their exit from the Royal Family and their move to the US.
