Princess Charlotte had a very sassy response to an aide trying to help her with a gift following a church service when she was just four years old.

Five years ago, she joined her mother Princess Kate in greeting royal fans after the Christmas Day service, one of whom gave a bouquet of white roses.

Typically, aides take care of gifts from fans so royals can continue their visits and engage with the public without holding onto them, but Princess Charlotte had other ideas.

An aide tried to take the flowers, but the four-year-old firmly shook her head and insisted she would hold onto them herself before going back to Sandringham with her family.

Princess Kate has previously said her daughter is "the one in charge", and even the late Queen spoke of her charming and assertive nature.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl has also spoken about the young princess' personality, revealing that she is more confident than her two siblings, Prince George and Prince Louis.

She said: "Charlotte is the most buoyant and outgoing of the three Cambridge children. It's that strength of character that will stand her in good stead when she's older."

She is also known to be protective over Prince Louis and has been photographed holding him in her arms and giving him a kiss as he slept when he was a baby.

Their father, Prince William, has spoken of the close relationship the siblings share, with Prince Louis trying to copy his older sister.

In 2021, the Prince of Wales shared that his family likes to the spend their mornings dancing around the house while listening to music.

He said: "Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything. She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing."

The three siblings are tipped to make a special appearance at Trooping the Colour on June 15, while their mother will not attend. Marlene Koenig, author of Royal Musings, said they could arrive with King Charles in his carriage.

She told Daily Express US: "I have this lovely little feeling, that perhaps, the carriage will include the king and queen and the three grandchildren.

"Normally, it was mum and Camilla and the three children, but since Catherine is most unlikely to be at Trooping, they will be with their grandparents, which would be really cute, really sweet."
