The beautiful little village with one of world's best beaches where Princess Eugenie lives
Located on the Alentejo shoreline, Melides is not only home to one of the world's best beaches, but also to Princess Eugenie and her young family.
Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two son split their lives between the UK and sunny Portugal.
Melides, a tranquil beach town, is Portugal's lesser known areas when it's compared to the likes of Porto or Lisbon with a population of 1,459 according to the 2021 census.
The secluded destination is now home to Princess Eugenie and her young family and is a beautiful sun-soaked village.
Eugenie and Jack made the decision to move there in 2022, shortly before announcing their second pregnancy.
Despite its tranquil feel, Melides is just 130km away from Lisbon, with it taking just over an hour to travel between the two.
Home to one of the world's most beautiful beaches, the village is trimmed with a breathtaking sandy coastline beloved by holidaymakers.
As well as the gorgeous beach, the stretch is also known as "the last untouched Atlantic coast in Southern Europe".
In honour of Jack Brooksbank's new role as the UK sales manager of the American Costa Terra Golf and Beach Club, Eugenie decided to move her family there.
Previously reported by the Telegraph, around 300 residences starting at €4million per plot were being built by the club.
As well as its promise of becoming a new attraction for tourists and homeowners, Melides also has a vast arts and culture community.
Previously speaking to the Conde Nast Traveler, Interior designer James Thurstan Waterworth: "Melides has a lovely humbleness to it.
"Everything happens at its own pace and people still operate the way they would have a hundred years ago."
Speaking to the publication, Mr Waterworth - who spent a significant period of time in the village a few years ago - said: "It is very pure, especially in comparison to the rest of western Europe.
