Meghan and Harry blasted for staying silent after Queen's 'dramatic announcement'
PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle have been blasted for staying silent on a "dramatic" royal announcement.
Queen Camilla: Hint of sign Duchess would get title
The Queen last weekend released a statement ahead of her Jubilee celebrations backing Camilla becoming Queen Consort – as opposed to Princess Consort – when Prince Charles becomes King. Her Majesty said: “When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.
“It is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
Messages of congratulations were delivered from almost all quarters.
The significance of the news – a “dramatic announcement”, in the words of royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams – would suggest this praise was not without merit.
But the “one exception” to this rule was, as writer Tom Bower highlighted in the Sun, “the Windsors in Montecito, California”.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are reported to have said nothing.
Mr Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk this silence “was noticed”, as silence often is.
The omission of a public note was particularly strange given the couple did not spend the week following the announcement out of the spotlight.
Mr Fitzwilliams pointed out that Harry found the time to talk “movingly about his mother’s work to help sufferers from HIV”.

But he added the couple should be given the benefit of the doubt.
He said: “We must hope that they sent best wishes privately.”
But Mr Bower was less optimistic.

For him, it was "surely deliberate”.
Mr Bower wrote: “It has been said by a number of people that Harry has always disliked Camilla and blamed her for wrecking his parents’ marriage."
Camilla’s own response to the Queen’s announcement was expectedly humble.
She is reported to have said, during a visit to a community kitchen, she was “very honoured and very touched”.
Now, unveiled plans have revealed Prince Charles and Camilla will be crowned side by side, when the time comes.
