Harry and Meghan 'really needed' by Charles to cement popularity when king
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle will be "really needed" when it comes to Charles' popularity when he becomes king, a royal author has claimed.
Prince Charles ‘needed Prince Harry up there’ says Andersen
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from royal duties in early 2020, to pursue a “financially independent” life away from the Firm. Since their departure, Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, have moved to California where they reside with their children: two-year-old Archie, and Lilibet, born in June.
But a royal author has claimed Harry and Meghan would have been “major components” in the equation of Charles’ popularity when he becomes king.
Christopher Andersen, who wrote ‘Brothers and Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan’ also claims the couple would aid the public’s opinion of Camilla using a Queen consort title.
Kinsey Schofield, founder of Los Angeles-based royals site ToDiForDaily.com sat down with the royal author to discuss the issue of Camilla’s title when Charles is ruler.
Ms Schofield touched on the uncertainty of which title Camilla will receive when the Firm is led by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall - whether it will be princess consort or queen consort.
Mr Andersen claimed: “[Camilla] will automatically become Queen when he’s King and do you think he’s going to have a coronation and say you’re going to be the first Queen Consort in modern history to just be ignored?
“Of course not! He’s going to crown her.”
YouGov conducted a poll last month which saw only 14 percent of Britons believing Camilla should be given the title "Queen" when Charles becomes king, with 42 percent expressing that they thought she should be called "princess consort".
Mr Andersen claims Harry and Meghan would “sell the public” the idea of the title.

He added: “[Charles] always intended to and he really needed Harry up there… and Meghan to help sell the public.
“Not only on his, you know, he’s not the most popular guy, never was.
“Not only on his monarchy but, you know, to sell Camilla as Queen and now he’s lost really, a major component, I think, in that equation.”
According to YouGov, Charles is the sixth most popular Royal Family member, ranking below his son Prince William in third place, William’s wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge in fourth, and Charles’ sister Anne in the fifth spot.

Mr Andersen added in his response to Camilla’s title debate: “[Charles] always intended for her to be Queen and in fact, she is now Princess of Wales.
“Now, this is kind of a shell game they’re playing, kind of smoke and mirrors because nobody wants to offend sensibilities.
“Diana will forever be Princess of Wales as far as people are concerned.
“Camilla, Queen? Of course, she’s going to be Queen.”
He then went on to refer to the traditional royal practice where typically the title granted to a ruling king’s spouse is “Queen consort”.
The coronation segment of the royal website reads: “Unless decided otherwise, a Queen consort is crowned with the King, in a similar but simpler ceremony.
“If the new Sovereign is a Queen, her consort is not crowned or anointed at the coronation ceremony.”
However, following their 2005 wedding, the couple said their intention was for Camilla to use the title ‘Princess consort’.
