Meghan and Harry spark fury over ‘farcical’ Emmy nod after ‘spouting complete untruths’
PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle's recently Emmy-nominated interview has been called "farcical" by a royal expert after the couple "spouted complete untruths" to Oprah.
Meghan Markle: Experts on Oprah interview Emmy nomination
The Sussexes made a number of claims during their bombshell chat with the American host including the allegation that a senior royal made several racist comments about their son Archie's skin colour. Now, however, Phil Dampier, a royal commentator, claimed that the pair were telling "their truth - rather than the truth".
Speaking to Sun Online he said: "I think it's farcical.
"We now know Harry and Meghan were allowed to spout a lot of complete untruths and unchecked 'facts' in the interview, and Oprah Winfrey did nothing to query it.
"As a journalistic exercise I thought it was very, very poor.
"It might have been watched by millions and it got a lot of headlines, but it was clearly not journalism."
In the two-hour special Prince Harry made several comments about his family.
He said that his family let him down and that his relationship with his older brother Prince William had been strained and needed "space".
Harry also questioned Prince Charles' behaviour as the future king stopped taking Harry's calls after the so-called Megxit.
The Duke of Sussex added that he was financially cut off by the Firm before claiming that a member of the Royal Family made racist remarks towards Archie.

This was arguably the strongest allegation.
Mr Dampier said: "I knew we were in trouble from the start when Oprah asked the pair of them to tell their truth, rather than the truth," he said.
"There were a number of claims that were just wrong, including that of a wedding ceremony two days before, which wasn't true at all.
"Oprah just didn't query any of it.

"Quite why it should be nominated for a top award is beyond me.
"It tends to indicate it's simply the woke world in which we live - we've seen it with awards ceremonies increasingly in recent years.
"It's become more about supporting political causes and less about integrity."
