‘No way!’ Prince Harry should NOT return to UK for Princess Diana statue unveiling – poll
PRINCE HARRY should not return to the UK this summer for the unveiling of a statue in honour of his late mother, Princess Diana, according to a new poll.
Prince Harry and William have 'long way to go' says expert
The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to appear alongside his brother, Prince William, at the event in Kensington Palace on July 1. The special day will also mark what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday. But, the attendance of Harry has been thrown into some doubt after he reportedly received a frosty reception from senior royals at the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, last month.
The service in Windsor was the first time Harry travelled back to the UK since quitting the Royal Family more than one year ago, it also came just over a month after the Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey was aired.
Meghan Markle is also pregnant with their second child and this could further complicate travel arrangements for the Duke, who is now living in California.
A subsequent poll of more than 5,000 Express.co.uk readers has found the majority of people think Harry should not attend the event.
The online survey took place on May 1 from 10.17am-10pm and asked 5,554 Express.co.uk readers, “Should Prince Harry return to the UK for Princess Diana's statue unveiling?”
A huge 80 percent (4,463) of respondents thought the Duke should not attend and voted “no”.
Just 19 percent (1,009) of participants believed he should go and voted “yes”.
Meanwhile, one percent (82) remained unsure and said they did not know.
A number of online readers let their opinions known in the comments section of the poll story.
One reader wrote: “No, he shouldn't come back at any time.”
A second user said: “NO, not interested.”
A third added: “Absolutely NO WAY should he attend the event… he is no longer a part of the Royal Family and should be excluded from any and all public ceremonies involving members of that family.”
Meanwhile, some others disagreed, one reader said: “He should attend however uncomfortable, it’s the right thing to do out of respect for his mum, the same way he attended his Grandad’s funeral.”

Another added: “It’s entirely Harry's choice whether or not he attends the unveiling of a statue in honour of Princess Diana.
“I just can't see him being so disrespectful to his mother by snubbing the unveiling. That really would be the end of the two brother’s relationship.”
Harry and William briefly reunited at their grandfathers funeral and were pictured speaking behind their face masks outside St George’s Chapel.
Harry had told Oprah that he and his older brother are on “different paths” and insisted their relationship is “space”.

Russell Myers, the royal editor of the Daily Mirror, told talkRADIO: "Some quarters of the family did give him a frosty reception and perhaps that did shock him somewhat."
Mr Myers even suggested Harry could use the birth of his second child as a "convenient excuse" for not turning up "and facing the family".
The unveiling of the statue is scheduled to take place at Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden on July 1.
